Green Wine Future 2022 is less than a month away, and the organizers anticipate it will be the "largest and most innovative virtual conference ever organized on the topic of viticulture".
After transitioning from a physical to an online event, GWF22 will take place simultaneously in many countries from May 23 to 26, 2022.

Sustainability, climate crisis, wine tourism and ecological business opportunities will be just some of the central topics of the conference, which in just a few years has evolved into a pioneering event in the worldwide wine sector.
Chrand Events, the project's coordinating organization, began the journey of sustainability in wine with the 2006 Climate Change and Wine conference to investigate the impact of the climate crisis on the specific industry of viticulture for the first time.

Among the speakers of previous Chrand-hosted conferences, President Barack Obama, Nobel laureate and former US Vice President Al Gore, United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan, director Francis Ford Coppola and the biggest names in the wine industry, from Robert Parker to Michel Rolland among hundreds of other prominent personalities in the industry. More than a hundred of the most significant wine entrepreneurs and opinion leaders, as well as world leaders and celebrities, are expected to attend this year's edition.

With an impressive list of “green” themed virtual interviews, speakers, debates and podcasts, GWF22 aims to address critical issues related to sustainability such as the climate crisis, biodiversity, wine tourism, regenerative viticulture and energy efficiency.
The event can count on the sponsorship of numerous specialised bodies, including California Wines, Wines of Chile, Wines of Portugal, New Zealand Winegrowers, Wines of South Africa, WineAlly, Agrovin, Cave de Gan Jurancon, Thompson Okagan Tourism Association, and Barossa Australia as it continues to expand its worldwide reach.

Along with the top names in the wine industry, the following renowned personalities will be in attendance:

  • Sylvia Earle, oceanographer and scientific researcher who founded Mission Blue, an organization dedicated to maintaining biodiversity and protecting the ocean from climate change.
  • Iván Eskilden, Panama's Minister of Tourism, holds a bachelor's degree in finance from Bentley College in Boston and has run businesses that seek to engage young people and build community support.
  • Damien O'Connor, New Zealand Minister of Agriculture, Biosecurity, Trade and Export Growth.
  • Natalia Bayona, leader of the innovation and digital transformation strategies of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (WTO), where she is involved in promoting responsible, sustainable and accessible tourism around the world.
  • Dr. Jonathan Foley, world-renowned environmental scientist, author and sustainability expert and CEO of Project Drawdown, the world's largest resource for climate solutions.
  • Jose Naranjo, director of Arctic World, a company specialized in in all related to polar regions like trips, expeditions, conferences, incentives, team-buildings, Inuit handicrafts, exhibitions, polar library, documentary film maker, image bank and so on.

The event will be broadcast in four languages (English, Spanish, French, and Italian) from eight distinct time zones across the world: the United States, Chile, Portugal, Spain, France, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand.

Green Wine Future 2022 will take place at a particularly critical time for the global wine trade, with sustainability now at the top of the priority list of this particularly environmentally sensitive agricultural sector.
